Rankings are always open to debate, but I was very pleased to see this blog was recently rated the 4th most popular engineering blog in the world! (see ranking from EngineeringJobs.Com). However, as much as that excites me, it leaves you ... my readers "cold". You may justifiably ask: "who cares?"
In an attempt to answer that question, I went out an reviewed the top ten ranked blogs. Two of those blogs are worth a visit and a RSS subscription.
- #3: Curious Cat Science and Engineering Blog: This is a cool blog if you are eternally curious. John Hunter finds interesting items from the world of technology, and provides useful reviews. Today's post is on the Magnetic Movie. I've always enjoyed the CatCam posts. Have you ever wondered what a cat does outside all day??!
. - #5: iMechanica: This site describes itself as the web of mechanics and mechanicians. My review of this forum / community based site is if your job involves mechanical engineering, you have to consider this blog one of your top web destinations.
Although EEHomePage.Com was not listed in the rankings, it's one of my favorites. After all, I need to give equal access to the EE's in addition to the ME's (iMechnica)!
I already had the Curious Cat and EEHomePage.Com sites listed on my Engineering Learning Wiki (blogs section), but I will add iMechanica immediately. It's worth a visit to the wiki to see my choices for top engineering blogs.
Rich,
Thanks so much for your comments. Putting together a list of the top 100 engineering blogs has been incredibly difficult -- as evidenced by the fact that we've only found 41 so far -- so we truly appreciate your help in pointing out a few that we did not have.
(And, ironically, adding those new blogs actually bumped you into a three-way tie for the #3 spot now. Because we don't have traffic stats for Women in Science and the Curious Cat Science and Engineering Blog, they always get the minimum score for that category, and the minimum score dropped by 5 with the addition of the 5 new blogs.)
We would love any additional feedback -- positive or negative -- that you or your readers would like to send our way. This will always be a work in progress, and feedback from the community will always make it better.
Thanks again.
- Shane
